While strong and reliable, the Crown Victoria's design dates all the way back to 1992 (the platform itself dates back to 1979) and was in serious need of updating. As such, Ford decided to phase out the Crown Vics altogether and replace them with a Police Interceptor version of the Taurus.
Yes
Small exterior differences, Civilian cars gave 120 MPH speedos where the interceptor has 140 MPH, aggressive tuning on the interceptors.
250hp for the 2004 and newer model Police Interceptors.
Chevy Impala's
All Crown Victoria Police Interceptor 4.6 engine models retain the same amount of horsepower and torque throughought to present. It is 225 horsepower with 290 ft lbs. of torque. Now from an experts point of view: All Crown Victorias do have a 4.6L V8 regardless of whether or not they are police interceptors, but the interceptors have upgraded computers which increase the HP. I sell these cars and I KNOW that every year they get faster and faster regardless of the fact that Ford never changes the listed HP of actually 250 not 225. To check my credibility, look up my company on Google: Martel Autos.
"Where is the police interceptor mod chip located in your 98 crown vic?" It will be located towards the back of the engine compartment if one is equipped. If you are looking in at the engine from the front of the car it is located in the very back right and will be mounted on the plastic fender above the wheel of the vehicle. Only police Interceptors work with these "chips" due to the fact that a connector is pre made and left clipped inside the engine compartment near the mounting area not manufactured into the civilian models. In actuallity there are many many differences between the civ and police model Crown Victorias. I am an expert in this area because I own a company where I sell and equip police vehicles for a living. They are built more heavy duty, stronger in every way, and are pre-wired for equipment. They even have cut out lines for push bumpers and such.
Try, I said TRY. They may not have the car for $500, but usually are around $700-$1200. Go to a used military or police shop. They are refurbished repainted crown victorias. Police use those...
Probably in the Museum of the Crown jewels in the Tower of London.
351m (modified) were last made in about 1980 to 83... 351c (clevelands) were last made in about the same time. the police interceptors had a 351w with a card on it.
crown victorias, pi, are fast especially with microchip installed, which regulates the gas and others components, now, impalas which also happen to be police imterceptors are a little faster,
