Most nations of the world claim to be allies of the Afghan Government, and several are currently supporting it militarily and economically, although quarrels and criticism between them and Mohamed Karsai's Government do break out from time to time. A few nations take no position on Afghanistan- sometimes, (as with Pakistan), this is because they are heavily infiltrated by Taliban and al-Qaeda terrorist groups and are afraid that declaring support for the Afghan Government would provoke a wave of terrorist reprisals- bombings, mass shootings or even an attempted uprising.
Others, such as Iran, secretly admire the Islamic terror networks in their standing up to the West and their support for Sharia Law. They may not openly come out and say so, but may covertly be supplying the extremists with weapons and explosives. No Government in the world would explicitly condone terrorist campaigns, but a few may support them in secret.
