About Earth: the ancient Greeks had already long ago noticed that when they looked out over the sea, the horizon was slightly curved. From that they concluded that the Earth must therefore be round, not as a disc but as a ball. In 240 BC the Greek astronomer Eratosthenes made the first very accurate calculation of the circumference and size of the Earth.
About space: The ancient Greeks (and the Mesopotamians before them) hade made an extensive study of the planets and stars that they could see. They still believed in a Earth-centered Universe, but they had worked out that the planets of our solar system turned in elliptical circles, and Aristotle and others had worked out that the relative size of stars and planets were an indication of their distance from Earth. They also knew that many of them, including the Sun, must be much bigger than our planet. They also knew that the size of the Universe must be vast, if not infinite.
About myths: this is a totally different subject of course. The ancients had many myths about their gods and about the creation of the Earth. Many of those myths (like the one about Noah's ark) have found their way into the Old Testament. That isn't surprising, as many historians are now convinced that the nomadic Semitic tribes that we now call the Jews originally lived in what then was Mesopotamia and gradually migrated in the direction of Palestine, taking their Mesopotamic myths and sagas with them. None of all those Myths however make a correct guess about the origin and early development of life and Earth.
Greeks told myths to explain events they did not understand, and because myths were their religion.
There are many myths about them because early people didn't know what they were. Some even thought they were flying mouses!! That's why people are afraid if them. Also they can have rabies and they spread dieases.
People have known the earth is round for over 2,000 years and did experiments. very is likely the Egyptians and Moses thought it was round. most people like flat earthers dont know people knew the earth was round before Columbus.
I know of no myths that were created. However the US did put out false information to confuse the enemy. Can you give an example?
Because they wish to know how we ended up here.
people may not know of the myths and rewrite it
Only a very small percentage of the worlds population know what the Norse myths are about.
i dont know ahaha
There is no weather in space. Weather is something that occurs in the atmosphere of a planet. The people in space can tell the weather on Earth by looking at the cloud formations below them.
because they wanted the world to know that buttmunchers ruled the earth
the purpose for the creation of myths was that people did not know much about the world around them so they made myths to try to explain the world around them.
This had been known since the ancient Greeks. It is a fable that people didn't know this. Despite the fact we have seen earth from space there are people who think the earth is flat.
A UFO? Because we don't know what it is and it is coming from space, to earth, and returning to space.
Because people have seen it from space and anyway if the Earth was flat all the water would fall of the edge so then we would not survive
All the solar planets formed at more or less the same time. The only people we know of are the ones on Earth.
because spacecrafts can see that the earth spins from outer space :)
It makes us know if there is a meteor coming or to where the earth is.
