yes. It could be as simple as low Transmission Fluid or as serious a a pump failure. If you can find a place you trust, you should have it checked soon.
vbd
If it is standard, it is the linkage. If auto, the trans needs overhauled.
Mis adjusted shift linkage, internal failure
I am the owner of a 94 cutlass and it will not shift in reverse ,it will however shift into drive if i rock the car....can you tell me whats wrong or how to fix it please..my email is lagoddess87@hotmail.com
Could be a bad vacuum line, low on fluid, or a bad 700r4 trani
tourque converter. Clutch,if this has a standard shift they had a problem with the differential stripping, hopefully not the problem but it is common. Check your fluid level. If the car gets out of drive and the car can be pushed your link should be fine. The problem then is either in the torque converter or in the control valves inside the transmission.
If it still has a reverse, just in the wrong place, then the linkage or cable from the shift lever to the transmission has streched or fallen out of alignment.
could be either transmission shift linkage not engaging reverse ( stops at neutral ) worn joint connectors sometimes cause this. or reverse clutches or gears bad inside transmission.
the linkage between the trans and shifter is what i would check first. also, there is a switch that prevents the car from starting unless its in N or P
what is wrong when my 2008 Ford Taurus X has no reverse
I have no idea what went wrong. Take it to a trans shop.
