Jazz Music can sound like a lot of things. Some good indicators include:

  1. having bass, drums, piano, Trumpet, Trombone, and saxaphone, although nearly all instruments have been included in jazz at one point or another.
  2. The bass line is all quarter notes and is scalar in nature.
  3. There is a "swing eightnote" which is where the first eighth note in a pair is longer, and the second eighth note is shorter.

Keep in mind that these are not always the case, but are usually the case.

THis type of music can also be realted to the blues

Speeded up[= heavily rhymical piano music. Alley Cat and Tiger Rag ( also called Hold that Tiger) would be examples. 8 to the bar was standard.
