Best Answer

A CPU for Central Processing Unit is where data manipulation, control, data transfer take place. Data coming from various sources (ex : drives, switches, Ram, Rom, keyboard, etc ... ) is placed in special places inside the CPU called registers for temporary storage and then fed to a special unit called the ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) whose sole responsibility is to manipulate the data by performing on it arithmetic and/or logic operations according to the program fed to the computer or to an electronic board which contains a microprocessor on board.

Hope this helps !!
