Jacqueline Kennedy made the add for her husband's Presidential Campaign that was designed to reach out to Hispanic voters in the Western states in the Fall of 1960. She was pregnant with John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jr. at the time and did not want to risk losing the baby due to the stress from campaigning in person for her husband's bid. This was due to the difficulty she had with pregnancies (only one child out of three survived infancy). The Latino vote was important in the efforts of the Kennedy campaign to win states like Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, and in an effort to try to win states like California, Arizona and Florida.
