Pump will fill the converter when started however running the pump dry may cause damage to the pump
pull engine, unbolt torque converter from flex plate (3 bolts), fill new torque converter with ATF fluid(so it dont start up dry), place new torque converter on to the transmission input shaft, reinstall engine, from underneath now u can spin the engine over by hand to line up the bolt holes and tighten the torque converter to the flexplate.
Yes It is recommended to add at least one qt of fluid to the converter before installation.
The torque converter has leaked down. There should be a small plug that can be removed and you can fill it. First let the transmission run a little bit to fill the converter, then check the level and fill as necessary (the pump is filling the converter). Or you can pull the tranny back and fill the converter that way.
Everything is back together and ready to run I assume. Just fill the transmission and fluid will be pumped into the torque converter as it runs.
Dry fill is about 9 quarts.
10 1/2 to 11 quarts
drain and fill 4 qts from dry (including the torque converter). 8.9qts
There is no such thing as a drain plug for a torque converter. If its broken you will need a new one. The only way to get the fluid out is to take it out and just turn it upside down and it will run out. But there is no fill hole to get any fluid back in.
Around 11-12, but you have to fill and check continually to make sure you don't overfill.
Between 12 and 13 qts.
Bring to a shop that has the equiment to fully pump out the transmission and torque converter and re-fill system
It might but keep a close eye on it.
