A monarchy is a government where the head of government is an hereditary king or queen (monarch). This is different from a constitutional monarchy, where the head of government might be a prime minister, and head of state is reserved to the monarch.

A monarchy is a country ruled by a monarch, a head of state with supreme power, who holds the title until death or voluntary abdication.

There can be different types. An Absolute Monarch is ungoverned by any laws, and can technically do whatever he or she wants, though in practice will still be influenced by other groups under him. A constitutional Monarch acts as monarch within the guidelines of a constitution. Qatar and Saudi Arabia are two examples of absolute monarchies, Japan and the United Kingdom are examples of constitutional monarchies.

Monarchy is a form of government when the throne is inherited or forced upon one person, who is set apart from all of his subjects.

There are 2 types of monarchy: Absolute and Constitutional. In Absolute monarchy, the Monarch has absolute power over the state and government. In Constitutional monarchy, the Monarch is sort of a figurehead, who is still subject to a constitution. There are many different titles for a monarch, including King, Queen, Emperor, Empress, Prince, Princess, Duke or Grand Duke, and Duchess.

A monarchy is an autocracy governed by a monarch who usually inherits the authority.

It is also a form of government in which supreme power is absolutely or nominally lodged with an individual, who is the head of state, often for life or until abdication, and is wholly set apart from all other members of the state.
