What is role of media in your life?

Nowadays not only the press others like TV, radio and internet have also come up. Like sir Mark Twain said it lights the lamp of up to date information to all the corners of the globe. It is also a source of entertainment. In fact we are not able to imagine a life without media, because it now has been like a man's companion. Media is classified into print media and electronic media. Print media includes newspapers like Hindu and Times of India and magazines which are published weekly, fortnightly and monthly like Readers digest and India today. Electronic media consist of television, radio, Internet etc. Television provides me with channels like Asianet news, Manorama news, BBC news, ND TV, National Geography, and Malayala Manorama. There are radio stations like All India radio and Radio Mango 91 FM. Internet can be used for seeing news, movies and hearing songs. In today's world, up to date news is very essential in a student's life like mine. Media has been of great help to prepare school projects. Media like internet especially has lent its hand of information. Moreover school textbooks provide limited information only. It provides us with infinite live as well as recorded information. Media gives answers to our every curious question. Video Conferencing is important in educational field. It is a Facility provided by the internet through which we can interact with faculties anywhere around the globe whom you can't meet personally. In this stressful life people try to relieve themselves from tension by playing online games in internet or by joining social networking sites where we can interact with friends. I chat with my friends through internet. I use Skype or Cool talk to make telephone calls through internet. I made an account in a social networking site called Facebook to stay in touch with my distant friends. I hear songs and jokes from radio to make my mind pleasant and happy when I feel angry, worried or embarrassed especially during exams. I enjoy songs and movies from internet and TV. Media serves as a stress remover. Media has many advantages. The advantage of newspaper is that we can take our own time to read it and we can carry it with us. Advantage of TV is that you can see live programs and know latest development. Advantage of radio station is that we can hear songs and jokes. Advantage of Internet is that we can chat, video conference, make Internet calls and join social networking sites. Apart from advantage media also has many disadvantages. Disadvantage of newspapers is that we can't see live programs. Drawback of TV is that you can't carry it and we have to wait for the correct news time. Negative aspect of radio is that you can't see anything. Shortcomings of Internet are copying, wrongly use of information, virus, impersonal means of communication and incorrect information in websites. Now the world is at our fingertips through media. Media is essential in today's world. The media can work as a curse and also as a blessing. It is we who decide it.
