I'm new here. I can't seem to find a date when the question was asked and answered. I assume that since the yr of prod is known, that the "owner" has some notion of condition, and therefore it is at least "good". As of today 02/2006 I would place a base price of $850 and if in exc condition of 90-95% $2150. Any distinction between 95% (used a little bit) and 99%(was never used and is just "old"), is arbitrary but significant. A "new" gun that is 111 yrs old is rare enough to command about $7500. BATF status has nothing to do with it at this level! Value will depend on how well your family has cared for the gun over the past century. If it was worked hard, but not broken, and retains 10% or less of it's original finish (this also applies if the gun has been refinished) the base price is $350. If it is well used, but still retains 60% of the original finish, $850. At 95%, $1675 and at 98%, $1950. Then, add 30% for the official BATF antique status and 20% for the 38-55 chambering. If it is a takedown model, add another 20%, and if it is a deluxe model, add 20% to a low-end gun or 50% for one on the high-end.
