Salish is the language that many different tribes in the northwestern United States (from Washington to Montana and south to northern Oregon) and parts of southwestern Canada (mainly British Columbia). There are more than 150 dialects that are almost entirely different, and many more pidgins within those dialects.
The Salish Nation speak Salish which has many different regional dialects.

∙ 6y agoSalish people, incorrectly called "Flathead Indians" overwhelmingly speak English, but traditionally they spoke a wide variety of languages, including:
- Salishan languages, such as Kalispel-Pend d’Oreille
- Kutenai, also called Kitunahan
- ʾa·qanⱡiⱡⱡitnam (Ktunaxa Sign Language)
As of 2018, only a handful of elders speak these languages.
