Without paragraphs, written text would be difficult to read and understand. Paragraphs help to organize ideas and separate distinct thoughts or topics. Without them, readers would struggle to follow the flow of the text and comprehend the message being conveyed.

Is the question what might happen if computers suddenly ceased to exist, or is the question what might happen had computers - computer science and technology as we currently know it - never existed at all?

You might add additional supporting paragraphs to a personal essay if you had additional points to support your thesis.

A very simple essay might be three paragraphs long, but most essays are longer. You do need at least three paragraphs, though - an introduction, the body of the essay, and a conclusion.
Then good for you, I guess. Since it doesn't actually exist, it's pointless to speculate on what might happen if you could lift it.
well, it depends....you're writing a paper there should be five paragraphs, you might have to write 10-12 sentences in each paragraph, if it doesn't lead up to 10 pages then you might have to do more
