The following information goes for both bullying and cyberbullying:
Cyberbullying is bullying but made over electronic forms such as internet, mobile phones, I pads etc.
Solutions for Bullying
There are things you can do to deflect people who bully:
Tell someone you trust, a teacher or adult.
Breaking the silence is the most important part in fighting back against bullying. Keep a diary or notebook and record what happens with the date and time it happens and who by. This will help when you have the courage to tell someone what is happening. Confide in somebody about the problems you are getting. Most schools have anti-bullying guidelines and will take your complaint seriously. If you have one, tell your guidance counselor about who's bullying you and how it's making you feel.
Opinions
In addition, there are several measures that you can use to handle this situation. However, the approach may vary from one scenario to another. If you are being bullied, you can or may do the following:
Also, if you see someone being bullied, extend your help by following the same step.
First of all tell an adult (that you trust) right away the sooner the better as if you wait then it gets worse.
The reason why people bully is because they think it's fun and cool, but it can hurt others and make them commit suicide.
8% of kids stay home instead of going to school because of being bullied.
Don't you be a bully, its lame and stupid.
You essentially have two choices:
Either stand up and try to deal with it yourself, generally not the best solution or even a good one. As the one being bullied, you are already marked as a target. Attempting to shift the control in the situation to you will be nearly impossible and potentially dangerous.
Or, you can involve adults. This would be your teachers, your parents, etc. This is practically the better solution. Not only can the adults diffuse the situation, they will be able to help you learn to address the specific situation and teach you coping skills as well.
You should tell your parents and then tell them to tell the teacher and then the teachers will supervise you.
If you are being bullied, you can:
Ask the bully to stop, avoid them, or ignore them. If this fails, tell an adult or someone in charge. Do not get violent or yell.
Even when you feel you cannot go on any longer, make sure you do not do anything final. You are loved by your family, friends, neighbours and teachers. Most importantly though, you should love yourself!
There is life at the end of the tunnel here once you stand up and report the bully to an adult.
It makes no difference what you have done, if anything. There is nothing that bad that cannot be sorted out without any fuss.
For example; If you did something that was wrong and someone is blackmailing you, this is cyberbullying and illegal, the person doing the blackmailing is committing a bigger crime ! There is nothing that cannot be sorted out if you confide with someone you trust, believe me ! Once the problem is out in the open the cyber/bully will disappear in most cases and pick on someone else, then you can carry on without any fear.
There are several websites where you can talk/message with a trusted person who will find a way with you to stop the bullying. Use the search engine and type in cyberbullying or bullying. A lot of these help-sites have free phonelines too. Please use them.
Try to ignore the person cyber bullying you. On MSN and several other services, there are block features which prevent them interacting with you and "Report Abuse" buttons or Panic buttons.
All in all, try not to retaliate, otherwise it can make them react worse and you are somewhat to blame.
Bullies will keep on bullying if you keep it quiet and say nothing. This is what they get off on. The quicker you stand up and say something to your parents, teacher or other authority figure the quicker it can be stopped. Yes, you can try to do the things listed here. It doesn't always work though and could make it worse in some circumstances. The important thing is to not give up or despair. Make it known to adults what they are doing to you, no matter what they have threatened you with. Call their bluff and report them, over and over again if need be.
Tell a responsible adult. This can be a parent, teacher or someone you trust.
Contact the social networking site and report the bully.
Block the bully (on msn etc.)
Do not fight back - this may be hard but it only makes things worse otherwise
You should firstly tell yourself, and remember the fact that it is not your fault that you are bullied, and that you shouldn't feel that it has to carry on, or even that it will. Then you should tell somebody about what is happening, preferably a parent/guardian, but a good friend will also help. Most websites now have a button on people's profiles, or on comment boxes, or forums where you can report this to the owner's of the website. They can then block the bully from the site. If it is MSN, then you can simply block/delete the user.
If this gets serious, then I would consider reporting it to the relevant authorities, as this can easily get out of hand, and they deserve reporting.
do not delete what they wrote. If you're on the internet, then report the person. If they're texting or phoning you, get a new cell phone. If they're doing it right to your face, then tell a adult, teacher or counselor immediately. If they tell you not to tell anyone or you will pay, think that they will be the one to pay when you tell someone.
Block the bully and report them to the webmasters.
Tell adult right away don't say anything bad or to provoke it more.
you should probably tell your parents about it and do not reply. If you reply then they will most likely get meaner. always tell your parents about it first.
no you should all ready know that
When one or more students that go to the same school email another student and say nasty things to another student (the victim of cyber bullying) or threaten them with bodily harm that is cyber bullying. The victim should never answer any emails from bullies and keep them in case the bullying gets out of hand and they need proof of any threats made to the victim.
No, we should not allow Cyber bullying because: Cyber bullying can lead to someone's death.
she was a victim of cyber bullying and now 'fears for her safety'
Yes, I do believe that if a student were to bully them on the internet ( or known as cyber bullying ) they should be suspended. Even if it is on the Internet, it is still considered bullying. There have been some cases where the victim committed suicide ( or known as bullycide ) because of cyber bullying. Either way, it does not matter if it was on the Internet or not, it is still bullying and it hurts the victim. It depends on where they are cyberbullying. If the School is 100% sure it is while on their premises then they may take a view to suspend a student. If it is from elsewhere then it cannot be held responsible for that student and therefore they should not suspend them.
Bullying is bullying, whether cyber or not. And bullying is NEVER nice.
Yes, because the victim might commit suicide due to whatever happened.
Any anti-bullying website will help with cyber bullying.
Cyber bullying is difficult to stop because may times it is done anonymously. The victim wants for the bullying to stop but want to continue using the site. A good way to stop cyber bullying is to use the block function that is found on many sites. On most sites there is also a report user function that may get the user deleted from the site.
Children are victims of this cyber crime and this has been a major cause of depression and suicides among children. Cyber Laws has a recourse for this. This is a punishable offence under the Indian Penal Code.
it should be a criminal offense though.....
