Probably the Beautiful- But-Dangerous Copperhead- the poem goes- Red to Yellow- Kill a Fellow, Red to Black, Venom Lack. ( the king snake is red-black-yellow in pattern, is harmless. not so the Copperhead. Older copperheads are copper-colored on top- good camouflage, and the bands are not as distinct. Still it takes all kinds. I once saw a teenager at a carnival ( male) who dangled a Copperhead around his neck and held it on the neckline like a shaving appliance- with weird music in the background, natch. it takes all kinds.

The snakes that cause the most yearly deaths are the diamond-back rattlesnakes, (eastern and western combined), and the king cobra. Both live in close proximity to people and cause many deaths yearly.
