JFK put pressure on the federal government organizations to make a true effort to employ more African Americans. It was during JFKâ??s term as president that the Civil Rights Bill entered Congress.
he signed civil rights act 1964 and got assassinated
How did he sign it if he was assassinated before that even went into congress...and if Johnson was the one that signed The Civil Rights Act of 1964?
Duhh... ;)
He did promote civil rights but, and this is going to make me unpopular, only to garner the large African American vote. All politicians manipulate social concerns for their own purpose. These 'clans' and families (see bush) are in a position of minority control and wish to remain so. Unfortunately JFK upset the southern democratic power base. This was a culmination of the civil rights movement and JFK's stance on the Vietnam War. The vice president (Johnson) most likely acted upon this and Dealy Plaza was the end result.
In 1963, JFK sent the National Guard to the University of Alabama to force the school to desegregate. That same day, he made a speech calling for the need for a Civil Rights Bill, and the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964.
Kennedy gave a speech in 1963 in which he called for a civil rights bill. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed after he had been assassinated, and was signed into law by President Johnson.
i would say john f. Kennedy and Johnson the president after Kennedy
He could not get Congress to pass the Civil Rights Act. It was his successor president Johnson who finally got it passed into law.
Johnson pushed through Congress most of Kennedy's civil rights agenda and generally improved the lot of minorities.
no
President John F. Kennedy and his administration finally began to support the civil rights movement after the Birmingham Campaign of 1963. He signed the Civil Rights Act in response to the highly publicized and violent confrontations of the campaign.
The president during the Civil Rights Movement was John F Kennedy :)
John F. Kennedy (JFK) was an American president during the Civil Rights Movement. He was supporting the black people and passing laws to free them and then he was assassinated.

The civil rights movement led by the Freedom Riders and Martin Luther King, JR.

freedom
Absolutely. The administration, especially through Attorney General Robert Kennedy, lead the cause of civil rights in the early 1960s. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the natural culmination of these efforts, even though it was passed in the Johnson administration. Of course, Johnson had been Kennedy's VP, so he was familiar with the effort.
Technically Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated during the Civil Rights Movement. Yes, he did try to stop slavery, but the Civil Rights Movement was through the 1950's into the 1960's. John F. Kennedy is the president assassinated while in a Convertable during a motorcade by Lee Harvy Oswald.
According to my U.S. history book, President Kennedy initially approached civil rights policies cautiously.
Prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the main legislation in regards to civil rights was the Civil Rights Act of 1875. It was President John F Kennedy who called for this Act to be updated in response to the emerging Civil Rights movement and unrest in America.
