Alliances - Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente, caused tension and dislike in Europe

Imperialism - Scramble for Africa (who could get the biggest army, again tension and competition)

Nationalism - Assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Serbia Austria-Hungary conflict
