The best way to describe it, is to picture yourself camping in the forest (park, hiking area, anyplace primitive with no luxuries (NO toilets, showers, stores, gas stations, NOTHING) for a year. Wear the same clothes for one month at a time, cleaning them only in the river or creek or a hole in the ground (bomb craters were used in Vietnam) whenever time allowed. Eat out of cans, and no fires nor cooking at night (eat your food cold) for at least 300 days. Either sleep in a camper (equating to an M113 APC/ACAV) or a Jeep/pick-up truck (equating to a M48 Patton or M551 Sheridan tank), or sleep on the ground with NO TENT, a lean to would be acceptable though. Do that for about 300 days.
Now your in "Nam country."
1. Hills and forests in the Highlands
2. Swamps (wetlands) in the Delta
3. Rice fields in the lowlands
4. Jungle in the balance of the country
