Discovered by who or what? If any organism can "discover" the "first country", then it could be any prokaryotic cell from the beginning of earth. There weren't "countries" then, although maybe we could say Pangaea. If you mean humans however, then we could point to the most widely accepted model of recent African origin of modern humans (or more commonly Out-of-Africa model), in which archaic Homo sapiens evolved out of Africa. Albeit Africa is not a country, it is the first area humans occupied.
However oldest Christian communities appeared in Georgia due to the preaches of Apostol Andrew. And this country adopted Christianity as an official religion in 327-330 AD.

The first official Country ruled by a Government in the world was Persia (known as Iran today), the first official government was stablished after arrival of Aryans and mads to the land of Persia about 5500(BC).
united states
the united states didn't become a country until the 1700's. smart one. The first country was probably a European or Asian country. The highest possible in Europe are Italy, Spain, England, France, or Greece. The highest possible in Asia are India, China, and Japan. I'm leaning towards the European countries, seeing how they had been around a long time. Sure China and India and Japan were around since BCE also, but Europe had many advances in the renissance and when they entered the modern age. Plus during the beginning of the modern age, Europe countries explored North and South America (discovering both) and they had to have countries to claim territories so I guess the answer is EUROPE. (you can figure out what country on your own you lazy butt.)
There was no first country because in order to have one country you have to have at least one other one otherwise a country would be the same as a planet.
