While there is a total solar eclipse in the year 2017, the path of totality will NOT pass over the state of Connecticut. The Moon will block out about 75% of the sun here in the North East.
If you wish to see this total solar eclipse, and experience the longest portion of Totality of 2min 40 seconds then you MUST travel to Christian County, Kentucky just northwest of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
The last total solar eclipse that was visible in the state of Connecticut was January 1, 1925...the next total solar eclipse to be visible in the state will occur on May 1, 2079 and if you happen to miss this eclipse your next viewing will not occur until April 14 2200
If you happen to miss the eclipse of August 21, 2017 your next chance will be April 8, 2024. The longest portion of totatlity occurs in Nazas, Durango, Mexico and darkenss will last for 4min 28 seconds.
However to see the eclipse of 2024 you will have to travel to New York, Niagra Falls...to experience Totality, because in CT only 85 to 90% of the sun will be blocked by the moon.
The next total solar eclipse to be visible in North America at all will be on August 21, 2017, from about South Carolina to Oregon. This will be visible as a partial eclipse anywhere in North America.
The next total eclipse to be visible in New England will occur on April 8, 2024.
It's going to be a long time, not until May 11, 2078. The next major full solar eclipse to pass over the United States will happen August 21, 2017 and will pass over South Carolina to your south. You might consider travelling to see that one instead.
The next solar eclipse that will be visible from New York will be on Nov 3, 2013. This is a partial eclipse though; the next total eclipse visible from New York will be on May 1, 2079.
It is still hard to determine as of now. The next projected eclipse is to happen on 2017. However, it is predicted to be better seen from US Mid West region to the Central Region.
The last partial solar eclipse visible from New England was on Monday, December 25, 2000
The last total solar eclipse was Monday, February 26, 1979.
