George Washington didn't attend public schools or go to college. He was home schooled or possibly went to a school on his plantation or nearby. Nothing is known about who his teachers were. He may have taken some classes at William and Mary to obtain his surveyors license.

Washington grew up the son of a modest Virginia planter and when he died in 1743 George went to live with his older brother. He didn't attend school like students do today. As a young man he worked as an surveyor and in 1754 became a British officer involved in the French and Indian War. After the war he became the head of the VA militia and served until 1758. In 1759 he married Martha Custis a wealthy widow with 2 children. The marriage and running a plantation helped him mature and by 1770 he was an experienced leader.
