This is not really very true. The majority of animals are purpose-bred by laboraties for use in animal testing, or by specialist breeders. Some animals are still taken from the wild, although it is illegal to use wild-caught primates in Europe for animal testing.

Wrong, test animals are bred and grown in strict environments to assure results are accurate.

Large animals such as dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep and pigs may either be specifically bred for the experiment or sourced from animal shelters or other places where the animal has no owner and would otherwise be euthanized.

∙ 13y agoWell it depends what but lots of animals are tested on, like rabbits, monkeys and other mammals. Although it's mostly rats and mice, which are not on animal welfare protection. You can see some horrifying videos on YouTube.
