5w 30
The recommended oil for a 2000 Subaru Outback is 5 W 30. This oil can be purchased at any auto parts store.
Subaru recommends SAE 5W-30 Energy Conserving Automotive Grade Oil.....
Take the distance traveled (X) and divide by the mpg (30)
Hi 30 lbs front, 29 lbs rear. 32 rear hauling or carrying heavy load.
My 2005 Outback 2.5i with a manual transmission averages 28 MPG highway in winter and 30 MPG in summer. I think that the winter gas out here on the west coast has a bit to do with the lower MPG in the cold months. Combined city/highway is usually 27 MPG or so.
Too Much Crack Cocaine In The Engine
Most modern Subarus the preferred is 5w-30. However you should look in your owner's manual because operating conditions may make using a different oil a better choice.
The reason for a oil spray out of the front differential dipstick in a 1999 Subaru Legacy is because of the cold. While it was -30 the car oil thickened, when the engine started and tried to pull the oil through, pressure was created. The engine was not able to pull the thickened oil in and the pressure pushed the oil out of the dipstick.
you can disable the seat belt chime by connecting and disconnecting the driver's seatbelt 20 times in 30 seconds with the key turned to on (not running). I've found that it's more important to make sure the seatbelt fully connects and disconnects than worry about the 30 seconds.
