The fully electronic ignition of the 4200 vortec LL8 Inline 6 cylinder engine does not use a coil. It in fact uses coil packs located over each individual spark plug. The wires can be seen on the top of the engine where they attach to the coil packs. The coil packs are held in place by long thin bolts that reach down to the cylinder head. Once removed they can be pulled off and the spark plugs can be accessed.
