Anti theft module on Ford van is installed as a security measure. This will entail a cut-off and an alarm system which safeguards the van from possible theft.
That's the Remote Anti-theft Personality module ( what a name ! ) It is used with the remote keyless entry / alarm system
To disable the factory alarm system on a Ford Ranger, you would have to disconnect the remote entry module (REM). However, if you do that, the keyless remote and driver's door keypad will no longer work.
Under the dash on the drivers side, you will see the fuse box to your left. Above and behind that will be the alarm module/brain [usually grey and has the Ford emblem on it]. Pull the big main connector out from there and you will be good to go. Also, you might want to look into tying the two red wires going seperatly into the module, together. These wires come from your ignition switch and if the internal fuse in the alarm module/brain goes out [can happen even when disabled], you will be stuck with a "no-start" situation until you splice the wires together and bypass the alarm module/brain.
if it is the factory alarm the module is behind the glove box, it is grey and has one wire terminal. i unplugged mine today and the alarm became disabled, one catch, your remote locking and entry will be disabled as well. if you are having alarm troubles try replacing the module and reprogramming the remote instead of disabling the alarm. the module is the same as a Bonneville module and can be purchased for peanuts at a wrecking yard. another problem is the mall module , its next to the alarm module and has two terminals, Buick has a recall on this module. good luck!

How to permanently disable alarm system? You will need to find the alarm module. Likely, under the dash on the driver's side. Once you find the alarm module you should be able to unplug it. I'm not familiar with a Code alarm but the aftermarkets ones are all pretty much alike. The modules are usually black, about 3.5 inches square and about an inch thick.Hope this helps
