the switch whether you have a 4 cyl or a v-6 is located near the thermostat housing. they are a two wire temperature sensor that the computer uses to turn the radiator fan on and off
It is the coolant temp sensor near the upper radiator hose.

Your Cherokee has a fuel injected engine. Therefore it has an electric fuel pump. That fuel pump is mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
Crank position sensor could be the problem. Worth looking into.

There is no fan belt it is an electric fan. Are you referring to the serpentine belt?
