Italy was invaded when the Allies landed on Sicily on 10 July 1943. The invasion of mainland Italy occurred on 3 September 1943, when British soldiers landed on the "heel" of Italy. Then on 9 September, American and British soldiers landed at Salerno, just south of Naples. Link: http://www.history.army.mil/brochures/72-16/72-16.htm

Poland at Warsaw

Answer

Italy did not invade Poland. Italy invaded Absyannia in 1936. That was before the official start of WW2 however it is almost like Italy started the first shooting war.

The first country invaded by Italy in World War 2 was France, which by that time had fallen almost completely to Germany. While Germany captured the rest of France and the Channel Islands, Italy captured only the French Riviera. Later, Italy invaded British Somaliland and Greece, and (with Germany) Egypt, Tunisia, Yugoslavia, and Russia, but France was the very first country invaded by Italy after the war began.

Also, Italy invaded Abyssinia in 1935, but Japan invaded Manchuria earlier than that, in 1931. In both cases, the Leaguge of Nations was powerless to stop the invasions.
