The VIN # tells the coutry of origin AND plant of manufacture, among other things. A call to the local dealer will be helpfull with the VIN.

The VIN can tell you which factory the vehicle came from. But each year, more than ever with crossover vehicles, automakers are constantly changing what they produce in each factory. For example, at GM's lansing assembly(pontiac, Cadillac), their lineup has changed dramatically over the past few years. They have demolished old plants & replaced some of them with new plants. Then there's GM hamtramack Cadillac, Ford's Michigan Ave SUV truck assembly, Ford/mazda's Flat Rock plant, Ford Wixom.... etc.. What is true this year will change next year. A better question would be "Is the Ford Explorer made in Michigan?" -yes, at Michigan Ave assembly.

Answer

GM:

Buick Enclave

Buick Lucerne

Cadillac CTS

Cadillac DTS

Cadillac STS

Chevy Traverse

GMC Acadia

That is all of them that are built in Michigan for sure. There are a lot of plants that deal with high performance engines, experimental projects (like the EV1), and accessories.

Ford:

F-150

That is the only one that I am sure of, they seem to make more of the components of many cars, rather than just certain cars, in Michigan.
