The Romance languages are sub-family, of the Latin-Italic family of languages. They include Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian and Moldovan. There are two reasons. They are known as "love languages", especially French, Spanish and Italian. Portuguese, is known as the "sweet language". The Romanian language, was the language being used in the "Numa Numa" song by O-Zone. A Romanian band. The second reason, is that these languages are rooted from the Latin language. The language that the Romans were speaking, hence the term Romantic or Romance. Not to mention that Spain, Portugal and Italy were once part of the Roman Empire. I don't know about Frence, Romania and Moldova. Hence the name Romania, I've seen the Romanian language. It's probably closer to Latin.
