In 1959, Dwight D. Eisenhower was still president, but his second term was about to end. In 1960, elections were held and John F. Kennedy was the new president. Sadly, he was assassinated in 1963, and his Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson assumed the office of the presidency. After Johnson came Richard M. Nixon in 1968. When Nixon resigned in disgrace in 1974, his vice president Gerald R. Ford assumed the office, and he was still president in 1975.
