The reason was mostly boring politics. By colonizing Namibia, it kept Britain from securing a continuous stretch of Africa from the southern tip to the hammer part. It also gave Germany land in which to disturb England's territories while also striping Namibia of labor and resources. Mining Natural Resources wouldve been another major factor in controlling the lands. Diamond deposits can be found, but the deposits of lead, zinc, tin, silver and tungsten wouldve been reason enough, especially in a time of war.
