Well, your question doesn't make much sense. So Im not sure if this could be the answer but..

They chose to purchase the Louisiana territory to expand the United States, and it did. It also costed very little(15 million, 15 cents per acre, That would've been 283 million today). He also wanted France away from the US, he wanted them to own nothing near US territory.. The land being sold was very fertile and had other valuable resources (such as the Mississippi river & the rocky mountains). So when they got it, It was basically a win for the US.

The immediate need was to be able to guarantee free access to the Mississippi and the Gulf port at New Orleans. It was very important to be able move goods along the Ohio to the Mississippi and on to the ocean. The opportunity to buy the entire Louisiana Territory was a surprise . One advantage in getting it was that it ended any future threat from the French on the west side of the US and the threat that the French might sell it to the British or Spanish if the US did not buy it.
