Are you kidding? Stalin was a murdering dictator, Truman a humanitarian Democrat. Stalin grabbed Eastern and Central Europe including East Germany as the German resistance collapsed in an obvious move to build a military empire opposed to the establishment of a democratic Europe, while Truman tried to end the war diplomatically, forcing his hand at rushing troops into Berlin to limit the rush of the soviet armies westward. It was brutal. I am not a historian or scholar, this is from my memory of being alive at the time listening to the news on the radio. When finally, Truman stepped over the Stalin after the German collpapse to inform him of the existence of the atomic bomb and to discuss the potential use of on Japan, Stalin stared straight ahead and said dismissively 'if you have such a weapon, use it" and that was all he said smoking his pipe. That angered Truman, but he took the advice.
This has some good info but its incredibly bias. you probably grew up in America where Truman and every other President was the 'good guy'. No leader is entirely innocent.
Asides from the whole murdering-dictator thing, Truman probably disliked Stalin for being a Communist, as American's tend to. sorry to burst your bubble.
stalin said no and did not accept his invite
he did nothing
The atomic bomb test
Falso
To take the soviet from communism
stalin said no and did not accept his invite
From Japan, Truman demanded unconditional surrender. From Stalin, Truman demanded free elections throughout Eastern Europe.
he did nothing
Men in Crisis - 1964 Truman vs Stalin was released on: USA: 5 January 1965
Stalin voted "no" to the proposal that Allied Troops leave the country of Iran at Potsdam. This was the icing on the cake for Truman, because he was already suspicious of Stalin's intent when he invaded Poland.
The leaders of USA and Britain changed from Roosevelt (who died) to Truman, and Churchill (lost the election) to Atler. Truman severely mistrusted Stalin, more than Roosevelt, and even announced that USA had successfully tested the Atomic bomb. This made Stalin mistrust Truman as well as Truman mistrusted Stalin.
churchhill and truman
Stalin was inclined towards promoting communism into the new states. Whereas, Truman was more directed towards a democratic and capitalistic approach.
President Truman did this to prevent Stalin from taking over the city. Stalin blocked supplies to Berlin to force the US and British to abandon it.
At the end of World War Two, Poland was subjugated by the Soviet Union (Stalin). Poland had been an ally (on the winning side), never the less, it was treated by Stalin as an enemy. Stalin murdered much of the Polish military & civilian leadership and replaced them with communist puppets. Stalin was one of the most ruthless, dangerous, and murderous dictators in world history. Probably the least trustworthy person alive during Truman's Presidency.
