no subduction going on
The reason Australia doesn't have an active volcano at present is that the Indo-Australian plate, the tectonic structure on which Australia is sitting, has enough strength that it provides a "solid base" which supports the whole island continent. Australia is completely "shielded" from the underlying magma, and that hot stuff can't get up through to break out on the Australian continent. It is only along a line off the northern edge of Australia that the so-called Ring of Fire extends its claim to create volcanic structures. Southern California is comprised of the San Andreas fault which is a transform fault that does not generate volcanoes. Therefore you do not see the distinct line of volcanoes that are present in both Washington and Oregon.
However there are active volcanic systems still present in California. Notably, Mt. Lassen, Mt. Shasta, Long Valley, as well as many other smaller systems throughout California.
CalVO classifies the following volcanoes as a high to very high threat potential:
Clear Lake Volcanic Field
Lassen Volcanic Center
Long Valley Caldera
Medicine Lake
Mono-Inyo Chain
Mount Shasta
Salton Buttes

There are no active volcanoes in Great Britain, because the islands form part of the now quiescent European continental shelf. The last vulcanology in this area occurred during the split of the north American plate from the European plate (to form the North Atlantic Ocean) during the Tertiary. The remenantes of these volcanoes can be seen in the Scottish Hebredian islands. The nearest vulcanology to Britain is that to be found in Iceland which sits on top of the mid oceanic ridge created as a result of the formation of the North Atlantic Ocean.
There are no volcanoes because there are no active tectonic plates in the eastern portions of the US and Canada.
Because the phenomena required for volcanoes: Hot spots, spreading zones and subduction zones, are not found there.
Actually, California is home to many volcanoes.
One of them (unnamed) is about 15 miles off of Redondo Beach, about 2,500 feet under the surface of the sea.
Plus or minus twenty-five years, the Medicine Lake Volcano erupted 1080 years ago. In geologic terms, that's a snap of the fingers.
Many small mud volcanoes continue to bubble up near Niland, in Imperial County.

I think it's something to do with the tectonic plates below us yeah, no plates are near oz, so, like us, they dont get many earthquakes and no volcanoes
California has four potentially active volcanoes: Shasta, Lassen, Medicine Lake, and Long Valley.
no subduction going on
there are none in mars -- incorrect.
There are no active volcanoes in the State of Georgia. Currently, (November 2104) the only active volcanoes are in Hawaii. There are a number of currently dormant volcanoes in Alaska, California, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming. These could become active at any time,
No, there are volcanoes but not active.
Yes, a number of states in the United States contain volcanoes. These include Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. Each of these states has active or dormant volcanoes within their borders.

Yes. Southeast Asia has perhaps the highest concentration of active volcanoes in the world.
There are no active volcanoes in Scotland. However, Edinburgh Castle was built on an extinct volcano.
