You did not say which U-joint but with the fluid description we can assume it is from where the drive shaft exits the Xfer case. There is a seal around the shaft that wears & needs to be replaced. This is the most likely cause of the leak. The clear fluid is the Xfer case lube. If you are loosing Transmission Fluid also, you have 2 problems. The 2 fluids should not mix, but you might be loosing trans fluid from above & it is getting blown back by the wind as you travel.
There isn't a trans filter on the Firefly manual trans.
Mostly the Toyota FJ Cruiser, but really its clear that not much can compete with the wrangler
Probably not.
The last year I have figures for was 2003 and it was 7.3%. By 2005 that had dropped to just 6%. In 2010 it was back up to 7.7% but the trend is clear. The manual transmission may very well go the way of the VCR.
The transmission was nice, clear, and perfect in San Diego.

The rear wiper blade on a Jeep Wrangler is designed to keep the window clear of rain. This helps a person see what's behind them when driving.
I'm considering swapping the engine in my 98 Jeep Wrangler (a 2.5l 4) with the 4.0l 6. I haven't done so yet, but I came across a website of someone else that has: http://www.jeepaholics.com/tech/25to40/25to40.htm That may help you out, or at least give you a little more to go on. Sorry, I realized I didn't make it clear: My jeep is a 98, but the jeep on the above website is a 94.

Park on a flat surface, apply the hand brake so the car is idling. Locate the transmission dipstick, rear of the engine, and wipe clean to read. The fluid should be clear. Add to reach the marking that says add.
both power steering fluid or ATF, (automatic transmission fluid) will work, for they are both hydraulic fluids. ATF is just dyed red to detect leaks in the transmission and P.S. fluid is clear. Check owners manual.
