Assuming the oil is of the proper viscosity [not thinned out], I can only think of two. First, if the idle speed is set way too low, and second, wear in the engine has caused all of the metal to metal spaces to become larger, allowing the oil to "leak" [so to speak] through faster. This would allow the oil flow at idle to excede the output capacity of the oil pump. Then when the engine is turning at higher rpm, the oil flow from the pump excedes the ability of the oil to drain down. j3h. j3h. is correct. It could also be a dirty oil filter,or possibly a pump that is getting weak or plugged up.The least expensive wuld be the place to start.Try a new oil filter,or a thinner grade of oil,or both.
