Also called problem gambling, a gambling addiction, compulsive gambling, and pathological gambling, problem gambling is characterized by an urge to gamble, even in the face of consequences sufficiently

Although seemingly analogous to other addictions, in its early stages at least problem gambling is construed not by the gambler's behavior but by its consequences. As a result, it is relegated diagnostically to something more than a personality quirk but less than a compulsion.

In fact, a gambler must virtually throw away his entire life to gambling before the American Psychiatric Association's criteria will acknowledge the presence of a problem. At that point it becomes clinical pathological gambling, a progressive mental illness involving an impulse control disorder.

Because gambling is addicting and a waste of money~eventually you will run out of money and be is serious trouble if the people you owe money to you are no good^__^ SO DON'T GAMBLE! earn money the proper way~it doesn't hurt.

Answer2: Addicted players are the foundation for the gambling industry. A long-term study published in the United States by the Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling confirms that many gambling addicts began at an early age "by placing small bets on sporting events or playing cards with family and friends." Many teenage gamblers finance their addiction with crime or immorality according to the study Why Do People Gamble Too Much-Pathological and Problem Gambling. In Germany an addicted gambler loses, on average, more than ten times the money lost by a non-addict. Addicted players are thus the "foundation for this line of business says the daily Suddeutsche Zeitung." To maximize profits, the gambling industry structures its games and designs its machines to foster and exploit addiction. In the gaming industry the faster the machines become, the faster the player loses self-control and becomes addicted. Gambling is now a serious health issue in Australia, directly affecting at leas 330,000 chronic gamblers reports The Australian. According to the paper, more than 1 out of every 5 electronic gambling machines worldwide is located in Australia where 2.3% of adults have a serious gambling problem. Of these 37% have contemplated suicide, more that 11% had attempted suicide and 90% said that they were severely depressed as a result of their gambling. Another article said a man in Japan that had a serious problem with gambling had lost a small fortune, three homes, the respect of his family and his own dignity. Why are cards considered a sin by some religions?

Two reasons I know of. 1. Cards were used in many gambling games. Because gambling addictions can be extremely destructive, many Christians preached out against gambling and card games. Although card games don't have to involve gambling, they still got a bad rap just by association. 2. Cards were used in divination, which also gave them a bad rap. Of course, anything can be used for divination by someone who really wants to try, so this argument is also moot.
