Eastern Europe has many ethnic and religious tensions that have been fueled by conflicts over history. Eastern Europe is in peace today, although nowhere near as peaceful as its counterpart, Western Europe. For example, there are still disputes over sovereignty, such as Kosovo declaring independence with Serbia still claiming sovereignty over the region. Another example is that Belarus, an Eastern European nation, is the last remaining Dictatorship in Europe, and is looked down upon by many other European nations. Despite all these tensions, no wars are currently under siege in Eastern Europe, which is a good sign.
