Because of the law of separation of church and state. people may complain about it anyway because they believe its unfair to the people who believe in Allah and Buddha and other religions. But at the same time those who do wish to remove it are in accordance to the original constitution. The constitution was never based upon any religion or religious backgrounds, people are often confused by those who wrote the constitution and their religious backgrounds rather than what is said on the constitution, This is a prime factor as to why it should be removed.

15 years after the constitution was written, the Bill of Rights was introduced in 1791 further implementing that religion has no place in the government. When a person from Another Country comes to either the U.S. or Canada they should be expected to follow all laws of that country. As far as religious preferences they have the freedom to have their own religions, churches and temples.

During the 'Cold War' when the Western Powers were trying to combat Communism which is an Atheistic {No God(s)} form of government, the words "Under God" were placed in the Pledge of Alliegence to 'show' that America was a 'God fearing country' establish opposition to Communism. The Constitution says, however, that there is supposed to be a 'Separation of Church and State', and since the 'Cold War' is over and Communism has fallen as a world power government, the Pledge of Allegience is being returned to it's original wording.

"One nation under God" represents the persistent and ever-present intrusion by religious based groups into the United States government.

Many people are confused by those words in the Pledge of Allegiance and that's understandable. However, it's not so confusing when you remind yourself that we have always had a secular governmentin the United States even though persistent Christian religionists have attempted for centuries to inject God into our government by adding religious symbols to government buildings and religious phrases to our coins, currency, pledges and oaths. The US Constitution guarantees freedom from a government sponsored religion.

The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted by the United States Congress in 1942 and was originally written by Francis Bellamy in 1896. Bellamy was a socialist. The phrase, "One nation under God" was added to the pledge by a joint resolution of Congress in 1954 after successful lobbying efforts by George MacPherson Docherty, a Presbyterian pastor in New York who impressed President Eisenhower. Many objections have been raised ever since and the pledge remains controversial with many citizens choosing to remain seated during its recitation. Requiring students to recite the pledge has been ruled unconstitutional in Florida and a Maryland school district had to pay damages to a student. Other courts have ruled it is not a violation of the separation of church and state although those decisions are mind boggling to those who revere that separation. Some school systems encourage students to recite the pledge and as many do not.
