The reason why the Vietnam War became so unpopular is that America was seeing so many casualties in a conflict that most thought we had no business being in to start with. Soldiers came back from there only to be labeled as baby killers.

Because the United States public did not understand why we were there inthe first place. They did not see why it should matter to us whether North Vietnam took over South Vietnam or not. When in a sense, there wasn't a reason for us to be there. The war did not accomplish anything besides th many deaths of U.S. soldiers.

The Vietnam was was unpopular from the start and many people believed that we were wasting our lives in Vietnam. It was also well documented and people saw how some people on the other side was treated. There is a really famous picture of a man pointing a gun at a Vietcong who was tied up. The man was on the side we were supporting which just increased the unpopularity more and people raged. That picture was from journalists. There was a large journalist influence here.

It cost the United States too much time, money, and resources. Many young lives were also lost in the war. It was considered a waste because we lost the war anyway.
