Native Americans were used as slaves throughout the differing colonies with varied degrees of success. Mostly this failed as the Natives knew the lands and were able to escape en mass, where the population from Africa were unfamiliar with the lands so they failed to escape with as much success.

Caucasians were used as slaves too, although they used the term "Indentured Servant" as serf or peon was derogatory.

I assume that you mean in America, around the time before the Civil War? If you mean something else entirely, then please discard my answer.

They were enslaved, sadly, due to the fact that some people considered them to be a different "type" of human, far less intelligent than Caucasians- which, of course, we now know is complete nonsense. Some families were, as you probably know, kind to their, eh, slaves, which would suggest that the belief wasn't completely widespread, but I don't claim to know entirely what they where thinking.
