I thought that I had been bitten or come in contact with poison ivy or something, turned out to be shingles, in the week leading up to the rash, I had flu like symptoms, racked with pain all over. Felt like my shins were going to break if I walked. When the rash surfaced (in my left hand which doctor said was rare) for two days I could not use my left arm, so painful outside and inside. Many headaches and feeling weak, food taste funny. It is 7 days since rash appeared (feeling bad for a little over 18 days now) and I feel better, I can see scales starting to cover the rash and the yellowish dots that form in rash seem to be gone. I am going to tell my self this was a minor case, it is not coming back and learn of ways to cope with stress. I do beleive stress is the #1 reason why people get sick, why some people end up with cancer while others don't. I know I need a few more days (hopefully) to recover as when I get up and move around I feel wiped out. So hopefully a few days is all it will take and not these Horror stories of having it for the rest of your life. Average age for shingles is 60, I am 42, I thought a young 42 but not so sure anymore, last few months just got over vertigo....crazy..... oh ya I kept my rash open to the air as much as I could but my son and husband have not had chicken pox so it was covered during the day, slept in different room and stopped preapring food.....just in case......
