try a Ford computer hook up kit .there great for problems with the car's computer.there not cheap so try renting them.

READ THIS...2nd suggestion: I had this problem, could not find, then the belt tentsioner broke and when replaced the problem was gone. My conclusion the belt tentsioner had bad bearings and was pulling this small 4 cylinder down and the computer was trying to bring it back to the correct rpm's by reving. I would have never found on my own...car had 140,000 miles on it and was likely the original tentsioner, the bad bearings likely caused the evenual break. The computer was doing it's job, there are just some things the computer can't tell you. Good luck.
