Fan belt slipping
ON the 2006 impala that whining noise is actually the electronics when you accelerate. Its more or less electronic pulses/signals My 06 Impala is the same.
Whining noise near belts had pulleys adjusted any idea what is causing this
if it sounds like a high pitched whining then it may just be your cool air intake
Car wheels on the pavement.
Previas have a history of a whining noise coming from the catalytic converter. There is a bracket inside the converter that when loose or has came apart creates the whining noise during acceleration. It especially is very pronouced during high speeds in the freeway. You might be in for an expensive cat converter replacement.
the starter is bad.
the Idle Air Control (IAC) is bad and needs cleaning or replaced
It may be the Idler pulley. I used to have a 96 Breeze with a 2.0L 4cyl that made a whining noise. I thought something might be seriously wrong, but then i discovered it was just the Idler pulley making noise. I changed it-- no more noise.
My 98 Ford Explorer eddie bauer edition as started to make this whining noise when im accelerating.. it stops when i take my foot off the gas...what is going on?
IT is your CV Joints which is making this noise.
Check the fluid level in the trans, the whining is probably the input shaft gear mangling itself.
Going to the garage to get new brakes before you gear box goes
