Yes, it is normal for the engine to sound this way. The Cosworth-designed engine heads
in these cars were fitted with solid lifters to reduce the "float" suffered at high revs by
the usual pneumatic lifters. Bear in mind though, that these engines, though generally
bullet-proof in design, were very advanced for their time. It is important to have the valves adjusted periodically by someone with a good knowledge of these cars. Typically
only MB dealers can do this as the 16-valve heads require a specific and very expensive
set of tools to perform this task and most independent MB shops will not make that kind of an investment for a car so rare. Try to find an independent shop run by a former dealer mechanic, these guys usually still have connections with their former employers and can often get a good price for you on this kind of work.

1999 mercedes benz c230 kompressor [stereo has no sound how cen i fix the sound
Lifters or valves.
AnswerIs the clicking sound from the engine? Try to check the oil.If this is happening when you try to start the car, it is most likely a weak battery or a bad starter. Oil would not have anything to do with this problem
I have a 2000 Mercedes S430 I recently replace the left rear shocks and the accelerator won't work when you press it down. the engine starts but with the accelerator pressed down the car will not move. the engine sound will not change. Please I need help to have an idea what I'm dealing with thanks.
I just removed my cd changer on my mercedes c240 and the sound stops, any idea how i to get my sound back without cd changer
The tinking sound if it is a light sound is probably the fuel injectors working which is normal but I would check the oil level and make sure it is full first it could be lifters ticking or clattering.
This may be a timely warning that the timing chain is worn. The Mercedes engine is so well-engineered and reliable that this is often neglected during servicing. There is a finite life to these components and the tensioners used, so have it checked for peace of mind.

According to the book, a Mercedes S55 AMG. However, since the newest "S" model is used in the movie, it should be a Mercedes S65 AMG. Could also be another engine in the car, since I'm not able to identify the AMG V8 sound :)
There could be several things causing a knock in the top of your engine, most likely is that you are not using premium fuel. Depends on the engine if its diesel the answer should be right, if its petrol it could as well be a whole bunch of other stuff.
exhaust sytem making contact with underside or engine mount damaged/worn, the sound will resonate inside the car but not outside.
