white smoke if it does it mostly warm and some cold i would be prepared to say head gasket i work on allot of older car like mk3 supra and stuff and this is the first sign of head gasket failure soon once the cavity in which the head gasket has will crack completely leaving you with allot of over heating and allot more server problems
I had the same problem with my 5.9L and it was the timing chain housing leaking antifreeze. It could also be a freeze plug maybe but that is rare. Hope this helps
Have a QUALIFIED mechanic test the coolant for exhaust gases. If it's using coolant but not leaking out, you may have a blown HG.
it could be because you have an antifreeze leak and its just steam not smoke
oil can be leaking from higher up on engine. u just need to clean engine, then after running for awhile, look for leak, be aware that oil on engine can be blown back over engine by the fan, so some hard looking may be what it takes to find the problem
accelerator pedal could have some strain in it and might be leaking petrol into the carburetor
Ben was running awhile ago or Ben was running earlier. =]
I had this same problem with my 1996 Sunfire awhile ago. I took it to two mechanics and they both determined that it was a leaking head gasket and it was causing air to get trapped in the thermostat to make it run hot. Hope this helps you out. Good luck.
sounds like an exhaust leak, or a fuel leak. that depends on the smell.
I would say no, they mostly wriggle around- after awhile they'll be up and running!
It is a good idea to drive the car long enough to completely heat up the catalytic converter and the rest of the exhaust system before running the test. This will ensure that the exhaust system is as clean as it can be ans would improve your chances of passing the test.
if it won't start at all after running it could be vapor locked. try opening the gas cap for a minute and see if that works.
It is probley just the engine coolant burning that ran into the exhaust and muffler. Just let it run awhile and burn it out. If it don't stop steaming after about 30 mins. Then you have done something wrong when putting it back together. Are you changed the wrong head. Start the engine with the radiator cap left off and keep watching in the rad while the engine is running, there should be no bubbling coming from the radiator. If there is then you still have a bad head are head gasket. Radiator should build NO pressure in it while the engine is running.
