I have 1989 jeep Cherokee automatic 4.o and it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear so i looked all over and found out it was the t.p.s it cast me at pepboys about 90-bucks But better the a new tranny. Try it it works "Throttle position sensor" thanks Jeff e s
what's it doing?
A 2000 Jeep automatic that is not shifting correctly after it gets hot might have something wrong with the speed sensor that is located in the transmission. The speed sensor tells the transmission what gear to shift into at certain speeds.
You have to know whats wrong with the transmission before you can fix it.
O2 sensor or vacuum leak
Have you checked the fluid level? Have you changed the filter and fluid as normal maintenance?
Check your transmission fluid. This happened to me in my 1992 Chevy Silverado & it turns out I had a tranny fluid leak.
if its the 5.2 liter model thats your answer right there
Your best bet here is going to be to take your Jeep to an autoparts store and have them check the computer. Then you will know just whats wrong.
The bearing has failed in the water pump. The pump will need replaced.
whats wrong with your face
Possible bad trnsmission filter. Replace filter. HAve you checked the fluid level? or added the wrong fluid?
whats wrong with it is it crooked or what?
i am having the same problem and had it before in my 1996 grand Cherokee and i traded it in on a 2004 grand Cherokee and the same thing is happing. i spent like 2000 dollors on different macanics and no one fixed it. There is a solenoid located above the transmission pan that controls the down shifting. To have this replaced at a shop it will cost about $300.
Your wrong, I don't have a jeep Cherokee
Describe whats wrong with it. does it freeze?
whats wrong with you freak. whats wrong with you freak.
Start with the fuses, then go to the more complex problems
That's called the tachometer. You didn't provide much information, but maybe it only happens when you (or the automatic transmission, if you have an automatic) shift gears. If that's the case, it's normal. Shifting to a different gear at any given speed changes the RPM's of the engine. If it happens at times other than when shifting, something else is wrong.
This light comes on if your temp gauge goes to HOT or your oil pressure drops to zero. Its a warning for you to look at the gauges and see whats wrong.
diagnostic procedure discovers whats wrong, and therapeutic procedure treats whats wrong
Depends on whats wrong. There can be many things wrong with your computer depending on what the symptoms are. Take your computer to a computer technician or repair shop to diagnose whats wrong and how to fix it.
