I would want to narrow down what is not happening. That is, spark or fuel, I doubt a compression problem based on that it sometimes runs. After cranking is there a raw fuel smell present? Is spark happening at each plug? IS the fuel pressure is spec? Being intermittant makes me question the ecm or a wiring harness, crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor, but need to find out what is being lost between spark and/or fuel. i woould go along with him and check the fuel rail there is a circle in the middle of the fuel rail under the upper intake plenum tray replacing that regulator and then go from there.

When the truck is warm the starter lags when cranking Everything is new Is the timing just a little off This is a 1977 351M?

the problem with your truck is either the battery does not have enough cranking amps, or the starter is beginning to wear out. first time i ever had this problem i put a higher cranking rated battery in and that solved the problem

WV polo 1.2 problem?

What is the problem of car doesn't start but the belt is working?

By belt i assume you're talking about alternator belt. This has nothing to with initial starting or cranking the engine. Check for full battery charge first, and make sure engine is cranking at proper speed. If so, you may not be getting a spark or a fuel problem exist, such as fuel pump. Can also mean bad wires or crack in distributor cap (especially if it occurs on damp days).

What if my Car shuts off by itself?

I had a 1994 mercury villager I was having the same problem it shutting down when the engine got warm. The distributor was the problem . After I changed it I never had another problem with it shutting down anymore. Good luck

Could it be the distributor cap problem in a 2004 Chevy truck.?

I don't know what your specific problem is, but there is no distributor cap.

1989 Mazda 323 that will not start There is no spark from coil have changed coil changed pick up modulator in distributor and still no spark any ideas?

Hmm. You have done everything that is correct. I take it, your battery is able to crank the engine strongly. Assuming your distributor is electronic, I think you have the same problem I had earlier. I had to change the entire distributor to eliminate the problem. I was able to get a Used one which was cheaper. Prior to that, I checked the distributor cap and I found a small minute crack on it. The takeup points of distribution was also corroded, maybe due to water or moisture. This could have contributed to the lack of spark. Anyway, the used distributor came complete with cap and wires and my problem was solved. Hope my answer helps in some way for you to check yours.

Why wont the coil on a 92 shadow 2.2cyl fire there is 12 vdc going to it at the plug a new one wont work either 12 vdc doesnt pulse when cranking engine?

Check coil resistance; primary-.52 to .63 ohms. secondary-11.6 to 15.8 K-ohms If it has a distributor, check the "magnetic pole generator pickup" in the distributor. New ones are cheap and many times changed with a tuneup. If it is the problem, make sure it is installed correctly. Some have a certain gap that has to be correctly set.

When you turn on the key the number two injector dumps fuel in without cranking and stays on until the fuel pump cuts off ive changed the ecu and harness i think it is an ground problem?

Possible failed injector.

Why does a Nissan CA20 engine's distributor rotor repeatedly burn through?

The distributor bearing failing on Nissan's is a common problem and may be related to your problem. Check to see if there is any play in the distributor shaft.

When cranking the motor why does the hot wire on the coil go out?

When cranking, the ballast resistor is bypassed to give a hotter spark. If during cranking you do not have power at the coil, but when the key is turned to run you do; there is a problem with the bypass circuit (sometimes it comes from the starter motor solenoid wire)

What problem can occur if you have a problem with your distributor cap?
