check for water corrosion in the module terminals in left kick panel under dash
If there is no sound coming from the unit itself check the speaker wiring. Also check the wiring harness located behind the radio. If any wires are frayed the radio will not function properly.
In my 1989 Dodge Dakota the brake light is on fuse number13 it is a 5amp it also goes to buzzer, speed control, check engine light, anti-lock warning light, and other things page 12-19 Haynes 1987- 1993 Dodge Dakota Repair Manual

Because your car is old and a piece of crap. Seriously, check the alternator. It may be dying.
A blown fuse can cause the dashlights and taillights to stop working on a 2001 Dodge 1500.
Start with checking the fuses.
I tried all the fuses, the parts that under the brakes I checked that. All lights come on and working except the brake lights no break lights.

It means that one of the head/tail lights is not working.
Check fuses and the headlight switch.
The bulbs should be checked on a 1993 Dodge Dakota if the taillights are not working. The plugs on the trailer package should also be checked to make sure that they are working.

Maybe start with dimmer switch, that's what I did on mine.
