the problem lies behind your dash,if you pull out the instrument cluster you will find two plug-ins where the cluster gets its information,after time they become worn from vibration and heat,take a small pick and carefully bend the prongs inside the plugs to make a more snug fit,if you go to a dealership they will tell you that you need a new cluster,believe me you don't,its a money game for these dudes,plus the cluster is around $700
Actually there is a t.s.b. (technical service bulletin) on this. You can buy an wiring repair harness for less than $20 from the dealer. Sometimes if you ask more questions and do a little research there is a better answer, and a cheaper "money game"....dude.
